Eddie Howe is soon expected to relay a message from above at Newcastle United after the club rejected Liverpool’s offer for Alexander Isak.
Newcastle have rejected a £120million offer for Isak, and it remains to be seen if Liverpool come back to the table.
The fact a bid has been made may suggest there is a price at which Newcastle will do business, despite the fact there has long been a message that he’s simply not for sale.
Clearly, it’s hard to know the exact inner workings of what are no doubt complicated talks. Still, Newcastle will not sell Isak without signing a replacement, which is perhaps the only shining light for supporters during this most ugly of sagas.
In fact, Howe is expected to speak on that very matter imminently.

Eddie Howe expected to confirm Newcastle United’s stance on Alexander Isak
According to iNews, the Newcastle United manager is set to reiterate the club’s stance on Isak’s future.
Howe is set to speak to the media within the next 24 hours, with Newcastle set to play against Tottenham in their final pre-season game of their tour of Asia.
The report says that Newcastle will “categorically” not allow Isak to leave unless they are confident that they can bring players of his level to the club.
Alexander Isak’s teammates are now involved in Newcastle United transfer saga
Isak’s teammates have tried to convince him to stay at Newcastle, though he is not understood to have changed his stance.
Isak wants to leave Newcastle and explore his options elsewhere.
Liverpool look to be the only club in the race right now, with the Sweden international not thought to be keen on what would be a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia.
While Isak’s desire to leave is understandable, Newcastle cannot risk ruining their project by catering to his every wish of exactly when and who he is sold to.
