Simon Jordan has expressed sympathy for Newcastle United over the Alexander Isak saga but couldn’t resist having a little dig at the club.
Isak has asked to leave Newcastle United this summer, throwing an already difficult summer for the club into further chaos.
Indeed, Newcastle have signed only one player all summer and now their biggest star wants to leave.
It is a bleak situation, and it remains to be seen what happens. Newcastle continue to insist Isak isn’t for sale, although their desire to keep him will only truly be tested if and when Liverpool officially make an offer.
Former Crystal Palace owner Jordan hopes Newcastle get huge money for Isak if he is to leave.
Still, Jordan was keen to remind everyone about another deal Newcastle actually benefited from.

Simon Jordan brings up Anthony Gordon saga in Alexander Isak debate
Jordan admitted it was ironic that Newcastle were now on the receiving end of a situation like this.
Indeed, he was eager for people to remember Anthony Gordon’s exit from Everton.
The winger joined the Magpies in January 2023 after Gordon made it clear he wanted to leave Everton for Newcastle.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Jordan said: “I do feel sorry for Newcastle to some extent.
“But I also feel there’s a degree of irony about the irritation that’s coming out of Isak leaving potentially.
“It’s not PSR-based, he wants to go to a bigger club. The irony of saying ‘it’s not fair to us’.
“But it was okay when you took Anthony Gordon from Everton, when Everton were in financial trouble. You forget that one do you?”
Alexander Isak vindicated if Newcastle United sell him
If Newcastle sell Isak this summer, the player will have won the battle.
Clearly, he wants to leave and while he’s officially missing the pre-season tour due to an injury, the fact he cannot get himself on a plane with what has been described as a “minor” thigh problem is certainly notable in the wake of such speculation.
Jordan is right, Newcastle have reaped the rewards of this kind of situation before and will hope to do so again with Yoane Wissa.
Wissa has told Brentford he wants to join Newcastle and is not prepared to play for the club again in an effort to go.
That does bring a degree of irony to proceedings. Players force moves away from clubs all the time.
Still, the Newcastle United owners cannot be concerned about irony, or what other clubs decide to do with their players.
If Isak is sold, it will tell the rest of the Newcastle United squad that they can go too, should they kick up enough fuss.
