What Brentford have now been told to do as Yoane Wissa to Newcastle United saga continues

Yoane Wissa remains a key Newcastle United transfer target as a saga begins to unfold.

Rather like with Newcastle United and Alexander Isak, Brentford have a problem because their key player wants to leave.

Indeed, Wissa wants to join Newcastle and is unhappy the Bees are making the move difficult.

Wissa scored 19 Premier League goals last season and would be an excellent addition to the Newcastle United squad, bringing yet more firepower and some crucial depth to the frontline.

Brentford do not want to sell the DR Congo international but he is eager to move. Now, an update has emerged.

Yoane Wissa tells Brentford to sell him

According to Craig Hope of The Daily Mail on social media platform X, Wissa and his agents have told Brentford sporting director Phil Giles to find a resolution on his move to Newcastle.

The Bees have been told Wissa – who is their leading scorer in Premier League history – will not play for the club again.

Wissa, Giles and Newcastle United’s Andy Howe (nephew of Eddie who forms part of the recruitment team) have all spoken this weekend.

Wissa isn’t enjoying all the speculation, and left Brentford’s pre-season training camp in Portugal because of it.

It seems clear he wants to join Newcastle, although it remains to be seen if Brentford soften their stance.

Hopefully they do, but wishing for that to happen from a Newcastle perspective seems somewhat ironic right now.

Though there’s no suggestion that Isak is refusing to play for the club, the forward is reportedly unsettled and is eager to join Liverpool.

Newcastle’s potential Isak replacement is in a very similar position to the Sweden international this summer.

In an ideal world, both would be lining up under Eddie Howe next season. Right now, however, that does not feel likely.
