Garang Kuol is set to join Hearts on loan, with ‘paperwork’ the only thing that is holding up his loan move from Newcastle United.

The 18-year-old arrived in the United Kingdom at the start of the year, after his £300,000 move from Central Coast Mariners became official.

He watched his new team Newcastle draw 0-0 with Arsenal on January 3rd, before attention turned to his future.

Ever since his move to Newcastle was confirmed, it has been widely reported that Kuol would immediately leave the club on loan. However, it was unclear who he would join.

The Australia international then gave away a huge clue, as he posted a picture on Instagram of himself in Edinburgh. It then emerged that he was with Newcastle loan co-ordinator Shola Ameobi, with the pair set to hold talks with Hearts about a loan move to Scotland.

That is where Kuol is going to spend the rest of the season, having opted to join a team that already has three Australians in its ranks. They should help Kuol settle into his new surroundings.

While a deal has been agreed, we are yet to see official confirmation that the forward has joined the Jam Tarts on a deal until the end of the season. Now Robbie Neilson, the Hearts manager, has explained why the transfer has not been announced as of yet.

The latest on Garang Kuol’s loan move to Hearts

The 42-year-old has been speaking to the Scotsman, and provided an update on Hearts’ loan bid for Kuol.

“We’re just on the paperwork at the moment to try and get it done,” Neilson said.

“I’ve no idea if it will be done by Friday. It would be great if we could but we’ll just need to wait and see.”

Hearts hope Kuol can make his debut on Friday

Hearts’ next game is on Friday night when they face St Mirren at Tynecastle. A win would strengthen their position in third, with Celtic and Rangers way out in front.

But Hearts are currently the best of the rest, and will soon be boosted by Kuol’s presence. The teenager has a lot of hype surrounding him at the moment, with a lot of people tipping him to achieve greatness.

That is why he is such an exciting signing for Newcastle – and why this loan move is the next vital stage in what could be an incredibly bright career.

Kuol will be keen to get started in the UK, and will no doubt be desperate to make his debut as soon as possible. Friday is his earliest opportunity, but paperwork needs to be finalised before that becomes a possibility.

However, this deal is clearly heading towards completion. It is merely a case of when rather than if. Whether Friday’s game against St Mirren comes too soon remains to be seen, but it is certainly a race against time.
