Hearts reportedly want to sign Garang Kuol on loan from Newcastle United, and the teenager has dropped a big hint that a move to Scotland could be on the horizon.

The teenager has landed in the UK after his move to the Magpies became official on January 1st. His first stop was the Emirates, as he watched his new team draw 0-0 with Arsenal on Tuesday night.

It has been reported that Kuol will be sent out on loan this month, and rumours began to swirl on Wednesday regarding the interested parties.

One potential suitor is Hearts, with the Edinburgh Evening News stating that Robbie Neilson’s side had enquired about signing the 18-year-old on loan.

A move there could be ideal, as the Scottish Premiership side already have three Australian players in their ranks, including one who Kuol played with at Central Coast Mariners in Kye Rowles.

Now the Newcastle teenager has sparked speculation on social media that he really is on his way to Scotland.

Less than 24 hours after interest from Hearts was reported, Kuol has provided a rather interesting update via his official Instagram account.

The forward posted a picture to his story on Thursday morning and tagged the location as Edinburgh.

Of course, that is where Hearts play, fuelling speculation that they could be about to win the race to sign one of the brightest prospects in world football.

If a move is on the horizon, it is an interesting choice of destination. Some fans will point to the quality of Scottish football and ponder whether it really is the right place for Kuol’s development.

But the fact they have some players he already knows is a bonus, especially given the stage he is currently at in his life. He is an 18-year-old lad who has moved thousands of miles away from home to pursue his dream. That is incredibly challenging, so the home comforts of being around people he has played with before would surely serve him well.

If Hearts have won the race to sign him, we must trust that Dan Ashworth is making the right choice in sending him there. Wherever he goes will be a calculated decision made by the Sporting Director.

However, he could just be in Edinburgh for a bit of sightseeing. But it does seem rather suspicious that he is in the Scottish capital less than 24 hours after it was claimed that Hearts want to sign him on loan.
