Garang Kuol‘s immediate future has reportedly been decided, with the teenager set to leave Newcastle United and join Hearts on loan for the rest of the season.
The 18-year-old officially became a Magpie on January 1st, joining for £300,000 from Central Coast Mariners.
It was initially reported that the forward would immediately be sent out on loan, with a move to either Germany or Portugal being rumoured.
However, Kuol has been able to obtain a work permit to play in the UK, opening up the door for him to stay on British shores.
After watching his new team draw 0-0 with Arsenal at the Emirates last week, Kuol then took himself to the opposite end of the country. He posted a picture of himself in Edinburgh, and it quickly emerged that he was with Toon loan coordinator Shola Ameobi to hold talks with Hearts.

The Scottish Premiership side showed an interest in signing the Australia international, and it looks like they have won the race.
The Daily Mail’s Craig Hope reported on Sunday night that a decision has been made that Kuol will join Hearts. Now the Edinburgh Evening News have provided an update on why he is set to head to Scotland.
Why Kuol is joining Hearts
According to the Edinburgh Evening News, Kuol has decided to join Hearts because of their Australian contingent. Robbie Neilson’s side already has three Aussies, one of which Kuol played alongside at Central Coast Mariners in Kye Rowles.
Hearts also have Nathaniel Atkinson and Cammy Devlin, who played alongside Kuol at the World Cup in Qatar.
The Edinburgh Evening News’ report states that their presence in Scotland has helped convince the youngster to join Hearts on loan for the rest of the season. They state that Newcastle were willing to listen to Kuol, and he wants to temporarily sign for the Jam Tarts.
It is a sensible decision from Newcastle and Kuol. He is only 18 and has moved thousands of miles away from his home in Australia. This is going to be a difficult period for him, and he will want to lean on home comforts as much as possible.
He will be able to do that at Hearts, and it will hopefully prove to be an excellent decision.
The Edinburgh Evening News add that Kuol could make his debut on Friday when Hearts face St Mirren, depending on fitness and registration.
