Newcastle United played their first game of 2023 against Arsenal on Tuesday night, and the Magpies’ newest signing was in attendance at the Emirates Stadium.
Garang Kuol officially joined the club on January 1st, after Newcastle agreed a deal to sign the teenager from Central Coast Mariners for £300,000 back in September.
After the deal was agreed, Kuol continued to play in the A League, while he also went to the World Cup to represent Australia. He made two appearances in Qatar, and nearly scored a dramatic equaliser against Argentina in the knockout stages.
Now the January transfer window is open, meaning Kuol is officially a Newcastle United player.
He was pictured travelling to England earlier this week, and he has now been seen watching his new teammates.

Shortly before kick off, Newcastle United uploaded a photo to their official social media accounts. They showed Kuol in the stands, preparing to watch his team for the first time as an official Toon player.
He previously watched the Magpies on his last visit, shortly after it was announced that he was going to join in the New Year. On that day he saw Eddie Howe’s side beat Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage, as he watched on from a packed out away end.
Kuol was up in the posh seats on this occasion alongside the club officials, with Dan Ashworth and Mehrdad Ghodoussi also visible in the picture.
Having seen Premier League football up close, the 18-year-old will be keen to get to work as soon as possible at his new club and make his Newcastle debut. However, it might be a while before we see him in action.
It has been reported that Kuol will go out on loan this month, with a potential move to the Championship on the cards. Other options include Germany and Portugal.
But the overall goal is to get Kuol playing in the Premier League for Newcastle, rather than just watching on from the stands.
That will come in the future, and the Magpies are hoping that they have an emerging star in their ranks now.
