Newcastle United know they need to become better sellers, and will hope that begins to change during the January transfer window.
With PSR continuing to be an issue for Newcastle United, the club are well aware that they need to move players on in order to bring fresh faces in.
However, that has proven to be easier said than done. While the Magpies have various players that they could afford to lose, that comes with the caveat of them needing a replacement.
That is the problem with Callum Wilson. While Newcastle would like to move Wilson on, it would be negligent without a new striker joining the club.
Meanwhile, Newcastle would be unwise to let Kieran Trippier leave without another defender arriving at St James’ Park.
Newcastle open to selling Miguel Almiron

However, it could be a different story with Miguel Almiron.
The Paraguay international has barely featured for the Magpies this season, with Almiron making just seven appearances so far. Eddie Howe has rarely turned to Miggy, with the 30-year-old starting only one game in the Premier League.
And after Newcastle failed to sell him in the summer, Almiron’s future will once again be up in the air when the January transfer window opens.
A move away could be on the cards, with the Northern Echo reporting that Newcastle will listen to offers for Almiron, who is attracting interest from at least two MLS clubs and teams in Saudi Arabia.
Newcastle may need to lower Miguel Almiron asking price
It is vital that Newcastle move Miggy on. He is no longer an important player at St James’ Park, while Eddie Howe is very keen to add another right winger to his squad.
Meanwhile, Almiron is not happy with his limited minutes for Newcastle. And the less he plays, the more likely a move away feels.
But a departure might depend on how much Newcastle are able to get. It has been claimed that Newcastle value Almiron at £15million, which is £6million less than what he cost back in 2019. He was a club record signing at the time, with Almiron arriving from Atlanta United for £21million.
It would be a major surprise if Newcastle were able to get that much for Almiron, and it would represent a massive boost to their PSR position. However, it feels more likely that Toon officials will have to lower their financial demands if they are serious about selling Almiron during the January transfer window.
While Howe has praised Almiron for being ‘committed’ to Newcastle United, it feels like a move away is best for all parties in 2025.
