Newcastle United have agreed to let Lloyd Kelly join Juventus before the transfer window ends.
Lloyd Kelly has struggled to make an impact at Newcastle United since signing on a free transfer in the summer.
The 26-year-old made 10 Premier League appearances this season, but his short cameo in Newcastle’s very disappointing collapse against Fulham looks to be his last.
It was confirmed that Kelly will leave Newcastle for Juventus on an initial loan deal with an obligation to buy for £15m with add-ons and a sell-on clause.
The deal is a huge help for Newcastle’s ongoing issues with the Profit and Sustainability Rules and could mean that the club does not have to sell another young asset in the summer to avoid a points deduction.
Kelly will be the second major exit in less than a week. Miguel Almiron joined Atlanta United for £11m after six years at the club.
After a sudden influx of money, a journalist has now said whether Newcastle will invest before the transfer window closes.

Newcastle United not looking to make signings
Come the end of the winter window. Newcastle are prepared to be short of attacking options until the end of the season.
Now that Almiron has left the club, Jacob Murphy is Newcastle’s only fit right-winger. Toon boss Eddie Howe has hinted at playing William Osula on the wing, but he is naturally more of a striker.
According to Luke Edwards, despite letting Kelly leave, Newcastle are ‘very unlikely’ to sign anyone before Monday’s deadline.
Newcastle’s need for more attacking options was evident when the squad for the Fulham game was released. There were just two attack-minded players named on the bench, Osula and Joe Willock who both came on during the game.
The Magpies are currently sat fifth in the Premier League table, but risk falling down the standings if they do not make any investments before the deadline.
Newcastle United soon to have another attacking option
Amidst the meltdown of who Newcastle should sign to replace Almiron and Kelly, the club are set to welcome back a familiar face to the squad after an extended period on the sidelines.
Howe confirmed Callum Wilson could play against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. The 32-year-old has missed a large chunk of the season with a hamstring problem which has plagued him for years.
| Total Newcastle Appearances (All Competitions) | Goals | Assists | |
| Callum Wilson | 112 | 48 | 11 |
Wilson has made four appearances for the Magpies this season but has not been seen since his short cameo in Newcastle’s loss to Brentford in December.
Newcastle go into the Carabao Cup tie with a two-goal advantage – they are just 90 minutes away from a second League Cup final in three seasons.
