Newcastle United have sanctioned the sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool for a British record transfer fee of £130m.
In July, the Sweden international shocked the footballing world by confirming his intentions to leave the Magpies during the summer transfer window.
Eddie Howe had hoped to see Alexander Isak play for him again at Newcastle United and for the whole transfer saga to blow over. However, that was far from the case, and the 25-year-old is now announced as a Liverpool player.
Isak leaves for £130m on deadline day, a fee never seen in the Premier League before. Newcastle have already started spending the money they are receiving for the player, as Yoane Wissa has completed his medical ahead of a £55m move to Newcastle.
Newcastle’s now former star striker gets the move he has been so desperate for all summer, but what does it mean for the Magpies financially?

Newcastle United will benefit significantly from Alexander Isak’s move to Liverpool
The Magpies will have Nick Woltemade and Wissa leading the line for the 2025/26 campaign, which includes a return to the Champions League.
Isak will still get his chance to play Champions League football with Liverpool, but there will be a much bigger expectation to perform on Merseyside than there is on Tyneside.
With the summer they have had, Liverpool will be expected to win everything this summer, so the pressure is on Arne Slot to deliver.
As for Newcastle, they can now take that Isak money and make significant improvements in the future. According to a new report from inews, Newcastle believe that £130m for Isak is a good deal. Those inside the club have stated that Newcastle will now be able to sign “top level” players in January and beyond.
Additionally, the impact the deal will have on their PSR situation is reportedly ‘transformative’.

Alexander Isak’s sale could be the start of something big for Newcastle United
Of course, Newcastle have lost one of the best strikers they have ever had in Isak. His 54 Premier League goals had him on track to match Alan Shearer’s record in around a decade’s time, but he could now be making history elsewhere.
Isak was going to go at one point, and it has admittedly come sooner than expected for some fans. However, they can take pride in the fact that Isak’s money will be used for the next year at least, and that Newcastle are in a great place financially because of it.

Howe will surely feel as though he has had a weight lifted off his shoulders with the sale of the 25-year-old. Press conferences have been bombarded with questions about Isak to the point where Howe has had to take himself out of the situation both physically and emotionally.
As the transfer window closes, fans will never forget what they had to go through over the last month and how they are much better off without Isak.
