The latest on Newcastle United’s transfer rumours includes updates on the pursuit of Joao Pedro and Eddie Howe’s stance on signing Hugo Ekitike.
After a short hiatus, the summer transfer window is officially open until the end of September. After reports of interest from players in the Premier League, Newcastle United now have the opportunity to bolster their options.
Eddie Howe is keen to add more players to his starting XI this summer, especially with Newcastle able to spend with freedom.
The 47-year-old is being urged to act fast; however, with top targets already signing for other Premier League sides, like Liam Delap joining Chelsea.
Despite that, Newcastle are still eyeing moves for other big names in England and Europe, but it looks like patience will be required from the fans.
With Newcastle now free to register players, here are some of the latest transfer stories.

Newcastle United begin talks for Brighton’s Joao Pedro
After seemingly failing to land Bryan Mbeumo, Joao Pedro has now taken his place at the top of their list of targets.
Newcastle have been informed that Pedro will cost £60m this summer, a fee they should be able to afford given their sensible approach to the last three transfer windows.
A move now looks to be getting closer, as the Telegraph’s Luke Edwards has reported that Newcastle have entered talks with Pedro over a move this summer. Those talks are in an early stage, but there is a willingness from both parties to get the deal done.

Newcastle United remain interested in Hugo Ekitike
Staying with strikers, Newcastle came very close to signing Hugo Ekitike in 2022 before Alexander Isak arrived.
However, the young attacker rejected the move to Tyneside for PSG, where is all went wrong. Now at Eintracht Frankfurt, Ekitike has found his best form and has now attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Manchester United.
While a move looks unlikely, reports have stated that Newcastle are still keen on signing Ekitike, but they must part with £85m to sign him.
That fee would make him Newcastle’s most expensive signing, surpassing Isak by a large margin.

Newcastle United could build a statue of Bruno Guimaraes

According to Brazilian outlet UOL, Newcastle are considering building a statue of Guimaraes after just three years on Tyneside.
