Newcastle United are preparing to step up their interest in signing Joao Pedro.
After deciding that Bryan Mbeumo is too expensive, the Magpies look set to go all out to bring Joao Pedro to Tyneside.
Pedro is open to joining Newcastle United, as the club prepares to try and negotiate a deal with Brighton and Hove Albion. The Seagulls will drive a hard bargain, having spent £30million on the Brazilian forward in 2023.
They are poised to make a huge profit, as Newcastle United intensify their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Newcastle United set to make Joao Pedro move
With Pedro keen to head to St James’ Park, the pressure is on Newcastle to agree a fee with Brighton.
According to the Telegraph, Newcastle United are growing in confidence that they can strike a deal for Pedro.
The Telegraph add that the Magpies are going to formally open negotiations with Brighton, with Eddie Howe’s side valuing Pedro at £60million.
Could Joao Pedro be Newcastle’s most expensive signing?
If Newcastle United are able to pay the price they want for Pedro then he will not become the club’s record signing.
That honour currently belongs to Alexander Isak. He is Newcastle’s most expensive signing, having cost £63million from Real Sociedad in August 2022. The Swedish striker’s arrival ended the Magpies’ pursuit of Pedro three years ago, much to his disappointment.
Pedro was upset he did not join Newcastle in 2022, but now could have a second chance to move to the North East.
| Fee | Date joined | |
| Alexander Isak | £63million | 26/08/22 |
| Sandro Tonali | £55million | 03/07/23 |
| Anthony Gordon | £45million | 29/01/23 |
If a fee of £60million can be agreed, he would become the club’s second most expensive signing, sandwiched in between Isak and Sandro Tonali (£55million).
However, Brighton will aim to receive a larger fee. Geordie Boot Boys were recently told that Brighton value Pedro at £70million, while Watford also have a sell-on clause that must be taken into consideration.
