Daily transfer news and rumours surrounding Newcastle United, including a positive update on Burnley’s James Trafford and Jack Grealish’s stance on signing this summer shared.
Sunday handed fans a tough pill to swallow when it was announced that Joao Pedro had accepted Chelsea’s proposal over Newcastle United’s, agreeing a staggering seven-year deal with the Blues.
The Magpies must now look elsewhere in the transfer market to sign a player who can partner Alexander Isak next season. Fans must trust that Eddie Howe has a player in his sights to sign.
This time last year, Newcastle had just scrambled around trying to get themselves out of a serious PSR black hole. They were forced to sell Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh to avoid a points deduction.
Thankfully, it has not been a similar case in 2025, and the Magpies are looking at signing players, rather than selling them. With the PSR deadline passed, here is your daily transfer news and rumours surrounding Newcastle.

Newcastle United and Burnley are nearing an agreement for James Trafford
There appeared to be some confusion amongst the fanbase over the weekend, with one reporter saying Trafford to Newcastle was almost done, while it was confirmed that a £26m bid for Trafford had just been rejected.
However, there has been some good fortune in the last 24 hours, and it has now been confirmed by Fabrizio Romano that Newcastle are now closer than ever to an agreement for Trafford.
The 22-year-old has already agreed to personal terms, so it is just down to the two clubs to agree on a transfer fee to get the ball rolling.
Newcastle will hope to get the deal finalised in the next week ahead of pre-season training.

Jack Grealish’s stance on joining Newcastle United is shared
In recent months, reports have stated that Newcastle are interested in signing Jack Grealish on loan. The 29-year-old is down on his luck at Manchester City, having been snubbed from Pep Guardiola’s Club World Cup squad.
Despite the interest, the Sun has confirmed that Grealish is not currently open to joining Newcastle and is willing to wait until further into the transfer window to decide his future.
Grealish would cost Newcastle £50m this summer, which is a fee Howe is not likely to give up for a player of his age.
However, his current stance does not mean a deal is completely off the cards. Jeff Stelling told Newcastle to sign Grealish on TalkSPORT on Monday, but it remains to be seen where the winger ends up.

Jurgen Klopp tried to sign Newcastle United star Alexander Isak for Liverpool
Over the last couple of weeks, reports have suggested that Liverpool are seriously interested in signing Alexander Isak. However, it has been confirmed that the Reds have not made any approach for the Sweden international.
It is believed that Newcastle want at least £150m for Isak, making a deal basically impossible for most clubs this summer.
However, Liverpool could have gotten their man much earlier if Jurgen Klopp went against his own judgment. In an interview with Financial Times, Liverpool’s former director of research Ian Graham shared that Klopp had the chance to sign Isak before he went to Newcastle in 2022.
Instead, the German opted to sign Darwin Nunez for an eye-watering £80m. It is safe to say Newcastle ended up getting the much better deal.
