Newcastle United’s interest in Luis Henrique looks unlikely to end with him at St James’ Park.

The Magpies are aiming to sign a winger this summer. The right of attack is the only position that has not been strengthened since PIF became the Newcastle United owners.

That should change this summer, although it remains to be seen who will arrive at St James’ Park.

Newcastle are fans of Tyler Dibling, but their interest is no longer as intense as it was.

Further afield, Newcastle have been linked with Luis Henrique at Marseille. However, the Brazilian attacker appears to be on course to secure a move elsewhere.

Newcastle United target braced for quick transfer

Henrique has done very well on the right of attack for Marseille this season.

The 23-year-old has provided nine goals and eight assists in 32 games. In comparison, Jacob Murphy has got nine goals and 13 assists in 36 appearances.

While Henrique has been almost as productive as Newcastle’s number 23, it looks like his future could be in Italy.

According to L’Equipe, Inter Milan are currently the favourites to sign Henrique from Marseille despite interest from Newcastle United. They state that the Ligue 1 club are looking to receive more than £25million.

L’Equipe add that Henrique’s future could be resolved quickly. That is because Marseille want a deal done before June 30th for financial reasons, while Inter want to sign the winger before their Club World Cup campaign kicks off on June 18th.

Paul Mitchell eyeing Ligue 1 talent

While it does not look like Eddie Howe is going to be able to add Henrique to his Newcastle United squad, he is not the only Ligue 1 talent that the Magpies are eyeing.

Toon sporting director Paul Mitchell appears to be keen to utilise his contacts in the French market, having tried to sign Abdukodir Khusanov from RC Lens in January.

Unfortunately, Newcastle missed out on Khusanov because of PSR.

Ahead of the summer, Newcastle are targeting Jonathan David. He is set to become a free agent, with his Lille contract expiring.

Elsewhere, Newcastle are interested in Maghnes Akliouche at Monaco. The 23-year-old is an extremely exciting talent that could light up St James’ Park.
