Newcastle United need better cover for Alexander Isak next season.
The 25-year-old is Newcastle United’s main man up front, but has not received enough support from his fellow attackers.
Callum Wilson has struggled for fitness, while Will Osula is nowhere near being the finished article.
That has left Alexander Isak to lead the line pretty much every week, with the Swede featuring in 33 of Newcastle’s 38 games. During that period, he has scored 23 goals, including one at Wembley as Newcastle won the Carabao Cup final.
Now the Magpies are preparing to level up, as PIF plan to make Newcastle an elite club.
That means improving Eddie Howe’s squad, with Toon officials eyeing up a move for another striker to join Isak at St James’ Park.

Newcastle United plan to make Jonathan David move
Newcastle have been looking at Jonathan David, whose contract at Lille is due to expire this summer.
He is going to be available on a free transfer, which makes him a tantalising option for a lot of clubs – including Newcastle United.
According to the Northern Echo, Newcastle United are going to try bring David to St James’ Park on a free transfer.
They add that Newcastle hope that Alexander Isak’s development can help convince David to move to Tyneside.
Since becoming Newcastle’s most expensive signing ever, he has developed into one of the world’s best strikers. That is why Newcastle want Isak to become their highest paid player ever.
Why Newcastle United will struggle to sign Jonathan David
And that is also why Newcastle might struggle to sign David.
Eddie Howe already has one top level striker, so it is difficult to envision how he could accommodate another.
Wherever David goes, he will expect to be first choice. He will be a guaranteed starter for whoever he joins, which would not be the case for him at St James’ Park.
Newcastle need an understudy to Isak, whereas David is too good for that role. Like Isak, he is a Champions League calibre striker. Like Isak, he has got 23 goals to his name this season.
While Newcastle are right to look at the 25-year-old given the fact he will be available on a free transfer, it feels unlikely that he will make the move to the North East.
In truth, David is a player who would be a perfect replacement for Isak, rather than someone to play alongside him.
With Newcastle planning to keep Isak, they will struggle to sign David.
