Newcastle United have long been linked with a move for Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.
Mbeumo has been in fine form for the Bees this season, twice scoring against Newcastle United on his way to 18 Premier League goals.
Newcastle are leading the race to sign Mbeumo this summer, albeit competition on that front will surely intensify the closer we get to the opening of the transfer window.
Brentford are braced for interest in Mbeumo considering the fact he’s been amongst the very best forwards in the topflight of English football this season.
The Bees would appear to be under little need to sell right now, meaning they are in a strong position ahead of what could be a huge summer of links regarding the Cameroon international.
However, manager Thomas Frank has made a big admission.

Brentford confirm “selling club” status amid Newcastle United interest in Bryan Mbeumo
Speaking to Sky Sports, Frank admitted Brentford are a “selling club” amid all the talk regarding Mbeumo. That will no doubt be music to the ears of Newcastle fans.
“What happens in the future, I don’t know,” he said.
“I’ve said many times, we are a selling club. But that’s also to reinforce that there are maybe ten clubs in the world that are not selling clubs.
“Of course, if the right price – and that’s going to be expensive – is coming, then I’m pretty sure that the club will be open for it.”
He did, however, also stress that the 25-year-old was “very happy” in west London and Frank added he was “convinced” Mbeumo would be delighted to stay next season if no one could match his valuation this summer.
What Bryan Mbeumo has already said about Newcastle United
The Bees star scored from the spot as his side came up to St James’ Park in April, which was actually Newcastle’s first game since winning the Carabao Cup.
It was a tight game between the sides. Alexander Isak (with a deflection off Mbeumo) opened the scoring before the Brentford star responded.
| Player | Club | Goals |
| Mohamed Salah | Liverpool | 28 |
| Alexander Isak | Newcastle | 22 |
| Erling Haaland | Manchester City | 21 |
| Chris Wood | Nottingham Forest | 19 |
| Bryan Mbeumo | Brentford | 18 |
| Yoane Wissa | Brentford | 16 |
| Ollie Watkins | Aston Villa | 15 |
| Matheus Cunha | Wolves | 15 |
| Cole Palmer | Chelsea | 14 |
| Jean-Philippe Mateta | Crystal Palace | 14 |
Sandro Tonali, however, would decide the game with a wonder goal towards the closing stages, albeit one he’s since admitted he didn’t mean.
After that game, Mbeumo called Newcastle a “very good side” and admitted playing at St James’ was “tough”.
Hopefully, next season, he makes it his home.
