Newcastle United will likely block any club’s attempt to sign Lewis Miley on loan in January.
Geordie Boot Boys exclusively revealed earlier this month that Miley wanted to leave Newcastle United on loan amid summer interest from Ipswich Town in pursuit of first-team football.
The 19-year-old has attracted criticism online for some recent performances but Newcastle are seriously excited about Miley’s potential.
With Sandro Tonali rested, Miley played in Newcastle United’s 4-1 win over Bradford in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night and performed well.
While tougher tests will no doubt come, it was a positive display from a player who perhaps needed a boost in confidence.
Indeed, it seems those behind the scenes at Newcastle see a positive future for him on Tyneside.

Lewis Miley won’t be allowed to leave Newcastle United
According to The Chronicle, clubs in the Championship and Europe are already interested in moves for the Newcastle United academy graduate ahead of the January transfer window.
However, as was the case this summer, Newcastle are simply not interested in letting him go even if it’s only on a temporary basis.
Miley is reportedly frustrated about his game time at Newcastle but with a long season ahead, perhaps there will be further chances to stake his claim for a starting berth.
Eddie Howe gives Lewis Miley his seal of approval at Newcastle United
Speaking after Newcastle’s win over Bradford, Eddie Howe was full of praise for the teenager.
He talked of how the midfielder continues to develop and how pleased he was with his performance.
“I thought Lewy was excellent,” he said.
“He really helped us in the first half. Some lovely little deft touches and short passes into midfield, using Joe and Bruno as a springboard to control that midfield. “He’s developing all the time and I’m really pleased with him.”
It’s difficult to see Miley starting against Arsenal on Sunday of course but the packed nature of the schedule means there will be games ahead for him in the coming days and weeks.
Progression in young players is not always linear. Miley has shown enough to believe there’s a very promising future ahead.
