Lewis Miley is Newcastle United’s latest wonderkid, who has been lighting up St James’ Park from a ridiculously young age.
Lewis Miley became Newcastle United’s youngest-ever Premier League first-team squad debutant when he featured for his boyhood club on the final day of the 2022-23 season away at Chelsea.
The midfielder has since become a regular in Eddie Howe‘s setup, which has led the St James’ Park faithful to believe he could be one of the next legendary names knocking around the Newcastle United Training Centre.
Here is absolutely everything you need to know about him.

How old is Lewis Miley?
Lewis Miley was born on the 1st of May 2006, making him 19 years old as of October 2025.
Though he’s still a teenager, Miley already has two years of first-team experience under his belt.
Where is Lewis Miley from?
Miley was born in Stanley, County Durham, England. Stanley is a former colliery town and lies southwest of Gateshead.
Given the fact that this isn’t far away from Newcastle, he is a boyhood supporter of the Geordies.
Lewis Miley height
Lewis Miley is approximately 6 ft 1 in tall (1.85 m). His imposing stature is used to great effect on the football pitch, often winning aerial duels and commanding the centre of the park.
Despite his tender years, he cuts an experienced and physical presence in the middle of the park.
Lewis Miley position
Miley is a central midfielder, but is developing into a fine defensive midfielder who can stand in for the world-class Sandro Tonali.
He can also play across the midfield three, so it’ll be interesting to see where he eventually gets a foothold in the side, if he ever does.
Lewis Miley salary
Miley reportedly earns £20,000 a week at Newcastle after being awarded for his promising performances with a new contract in 2024.
That works out at £1.04m a year and puts him at the lowest end of the club’s wage bill.
Lewis Miley school
Miley studied at Tanfield School, which is a coeducational secondary school in Stanley, County Durham, England.
Remarkably, Miley was playing for Newcastle United’s youth team while completing his GCSEs at Tanfield School in Stanley.
Alex Jeffrey, Head of PE at Tanfield School, told the Chronicle Live that had managed to juggle his school work with playing for the club.
“Lewis came to school every day and was really hardworking. He kept his head down and got as much work done as possible.
“He was really kind and caring. All the students liked him and all the staff liked him. Miley was really, really easy to get along with.
“He managed his school life as well as Newcastle United. Lewis always made sure he caught up with what he missed. He never lost sight of his education and realised the impact of it. Lewis just concentrated on what he had to do.
“He did really, really well. I do know that he achieved higher than he was expected.”

Lewis Miley brothers
He has three brothers, Jamie, Mason and Layton. His older brother, Jamie, is also a player for Newcastle United.
Jamie, like his brother, is a midfielder – but hasn’t yet broken through fully to the first-team squad like his younger sibling.
He briefly featured alongside him for United’s first team in pre-season at Gateshead two years ago – and they all played from an early age through the youth ranks.
Lewis Miley parents
Lewis Miley’s parents are Maxine Miley and Mick Miley. Miley’s dad has supported him through his footballing journey.
Although the pair keep quite a low profile, Mick is especially proud of his son, taking to X to post about when Lewis made his debut.
