Newcastle United are prepared to raid the reigning Premier League champions over the January window.

There is money to spend for Newcastle United in January, but any incomings will rely on sales being made before the PSR cut-off date in the summer.

One player linked with a move away is club captain Bruno Guimaraes. Man City were interested in Guimaraes over the summer and even considered triggering his £100m release clause.

After a huge drop in form in recent months, City could reignite interest in Guimaraes in 2025. PIF do not want to sell to City but reports suggest they could return the favour and raid the Manchester club in January.

Newcastle United are monitoring Jack Grealish

Earlier this month, Jack Grealish was urged to join Newcastle by Troy Deeney, who suggested he would “dominate” at St James’ Park.

City broke the British transfer record to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for £100m in 2021 and he has gone on to win the treble in Manchester.

However, the 29-year-old has never truly replicated the brilliant form he showed at Villa and Grealish is now struggling for game time at the Etihad Stadium. He has played less than 600 minutes of Premier League action this season despite City struggling down in fifth.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle are now monitoring Grealish’s situation ahead of January.

Guardiola doesn’t expect anyone to depart City in January, but Grealish could be allowed to leave after dropping down the pecking order. Tottenham are also cited as another club monitoring the England international.

Newcastle United fans feud with Jack Grealish

Back in 2022, Grealish was part of a City side that had dominated Europe and won the treble. During his celebrations, Grealish aimed a dig at Miguel Almiron that irritated the Newcastle fanbase.

Since then, he has been far worse than the Paraguayan and has ended 2024 without scoring a single goal for City.

A January exit is now on the cards and, ironically, Grealish could move to Tyneside to replace Almiron two years after his comments.

Clubs have shown interest in Almiron ahead of a likely move in January, and Newcastle want to sign a top-class winger to replace him.
