Bruno Guimaraes continues to be linked with a potential move away from Newcastle United in 2025.

The Brazilian midfielder has become captain and fan-favourite at Newcastle United, but unfortunately that also results in transfer interest from elsewhere.

Bruno Guimaraes was linked with Manchester City in the summer with the Premier League champions weighing up whether or not to pay his £100m release clause.

As the summer window slammed shut, Bruno Guimaraes stayed put on Tyneside – as did Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak despite interest from Premier League rivals.

However, as Profit and Sustainability Rules continue to ruin transfer plans there is a growing feeling that Newcastle will have to sell a star player in 2025. Guimaraes falls into that category.

Bruno Guimaraes gives ‘green light’ to Newcastle exit

While City refused to pay Guimaraes’ release clause in the summer, they continue to be linked to him after their recent poor run of form.

Pep Guardiola loves Guimaraes and has always been keen to bring him to the Etihad Stadium. Newcastle obviously do not want to sell but are looking for ways to navigate PSR and a big-money fee would give them plenty of flexibility.

According to Sky Sports, City have revived their talks with Guimaraes and his agents ahead of a potential move in 2025.

It is said that Guimaraes has already given a “green light” to join City with personal terms not expected to be an issue if both clubs can agree a fee.

PIF’s stance on selling Bruno Guimaraes to Man City

While Guimaraes appears open to joining City, he is still contracted at St James’ Park until 2028 so Newcastle are not under pressure to accept a cut price.

According to the same report as above, Newcastle bosses require a fee of £100m to part ways with Guimaraes.

It is said that Newcastle’s Saudi owners – PIF – do not want to lose Guimaraes, especially to a club “run by Emirati funds”.

There is a “conflict of egos” when it comes to Newcastle’s owners negotiating with City’s Abu Dhabi bosses.

City will push to sign Guimaraes as early as the January transfer window but Newcastle will not sell the Brazilian unless their asking price is met in full.
