Newcastle United have added Sporting Lisbon’s Francisco Trincao to their summer shopping list.
The search for a new right winger seems to have lasted years at Newcastle United, with the Magpies failing to recruit a new winger last summer.
Newcastle made a last-gasp £50m bid for Anthony Elanga but it was rejected by Nottingham Forest on deadline day. There will also be regret at not signing Michael Olise after he was made a top target.
Instead, Eddie Howe has had to be patient for any new major signings, but Newcastle will have a much bigger budget this summer after wrestling with their PSR concerns.
There are several wingers on Newcastle’s transfer shortlist, and they have recently added Sporting star Francisco Trincao.

How much Newcastle will have to pay for Francisco Trincao
Trincao was linked with Newcastle United earlier this month with sporting director Paul Mitchell keen on the 25-year-old winger.
Just days after those links emerged, Trincao starred for Portugal in the Nations League, coming off the bench to score twice and bail Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. out of a defeat.
Newcastle want three signings this summer – and the very top priority is a winger. Sporting have now made it clear how much they would demand for their star winger.
According to The Mirror, Trincao is valued at £30m this summer with Sporting braced for interest from several Premier League clubs.
Among those clubs is Manchester United, with Red Devils manager Ruben Amorim reportedly keen to raid his former side for Trincao’s signature.
Trincao already has Premier League experience from his time at Wolves. Trincao has been labelled as “magic” by a former coach, but he struggled to make an impact during his time at Molineux.
How Newcastle United could line up with Francisco Trincao
Versatility is one of Trincao’s key traits – this season alone he has played on both wings, as a second striker and as an attacking midfielder.
But there is no doubt that he plays his best football on the right flank. That’s where he played against Denmark after coming off the bench.
With Miguel Almiron leaving in January, Howe does not have many options on the right with Jacob Murphy making the position his own this season.

But Trincao’s arrival in the summer would shake up Newcastle’s attacking options and give Howe a dynamic front three.
Trincao could join Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak up front to make a star-studded attacking line for Howe.
