Newcastle United have begun life without Miguel Almiron.
Many Newcastle United fans were in agreement when it was announced that Miguel Almiron had left the club.
Newcastle fans knew Almiron always gave 110% whenever he was on the pitch, despite reduced game time this season.
The Magpies are now incredibly short of bodies in that position and do not look like they will bring anyone else in before the deadline on Monday.
Jacob Murphy is Eddie Howe’s only natural right-winger available to him. However, Howe hinted at William Osula playing on the right-wing if he ever needed to make changes.
The Magpies will look to sign a winger in the summer when they have more funds available to them. Newcastle are set to receive a £73m boost in the summer once the heavy losses from the 2021/22 season drop off the three-year FFP cycle.
While a move will not happen in January, Newcastle could revisit a move for a player who has previously played with Alexander Isak.
Newcastle United closely monitoring Takefusa Kubo
Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo has had more of a quiet season in La Liga so far. In 21 games, the 23-year-old has scored four goals.
The Japan international has played a big part in their Europa League campaign, playing in all but one game in the league phase.
Newcastle were offered Kubo in January which sporting director Paul Mitchell initially rejected due to his £50m price tag.
Kubo played alongside Isak at Sociedad before the Swede completed his move to Tyneside in 2022. Sociedad would not see the full potential of their partnership up-front as they only played alongside each other for two games.
According to ESPN reporter Rodri Faez, Newcastle have been closely monitoring Kubo, but Sociedad are no longer willing to let him leave the club in January.
The winger seems open to a move to England – according to Sponichi Annex, the Japanese star has already started learning English ahead of a potential move.
Newcastle may explore a move for the winger again in the summer.
Newcastle United’s right-wing options after Miguel Almiron exit
While Newcastle are short of natural right-wingers until the end of the season, Howe can look to other players in the meantime.
Harvey Barnes is due back from injury in two weeks. He has been missing since early January with a muscle problem.
Howe could also look to the likes of Joelinton or Joe Willock who can play in that position. He would prefer to use them in midfield where they perform at their best.
Elsewhere, Anthony Gordon has played on the right-hand side this season. Again, Howe will be reluctant to move him out of the position he has played so well in.
