Newcastle United may have been keeping tabs on a number of players this weekend, but we do know that Steve Nickson was watching the game at Molineux on Saturday afternoon.
With the January transfer window now open, we are still waiting for Newcastle to make their first signing of the winter window.
If you could sign ONE Premier League player this month – who would it be?
So far, the only confirmed deal Newcastle have done is to send Antonio Cordero out on loan to Cadiz, but there are expected to be fresh arrivals this month at some point.
While Eddie Howe wants a new defender and another midfielder, there’s a chance Head of Recruitment Steve Nickson was looking at a striker this weekend.

Steve Nickson watches Wolves vs West Ham
According to a report from the Chronicle, Nickson was in the stands at Molineux to watch Wolves defeat West Ham 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.
Given his role, Nickson was unlikely to be doing anything other than identifying transfer targets for the Magpies. Indeed, scouting out the strengths and weaknesses of league rivals is not part of his job description, but who was he watching?
The most likely option is Jorgen Strand Larsen. Newcastle dodged a bullet by not signing Larsen in the summer, according to Alan Shearer, but the Wolves forward may still be of interest to the Magpies despite his struggles this term.
Newcastle reportedly offered £55m for the big striker in the summer but were knocked back before opting to sign Nick Woltemade instead. That certainly looks like the right decision at this point.

Jorgen Strand Larsen puts in another poor showing
While Wolves are prepared to accept £40m for Strand Larsen now, we have still seen no evidence to suggest that is a price worth paying. After his disappointing 30-minute cameo against West Ham, hopefully Steve Nickson feels the same.
Strand Larsen came on just after the hour-mark to replace Hwang Hee-Chan, who had scored earlier in the game. Unfortunately, Strand Larsen ended up with the lowest rating of any Wolves player as per Sofascore.
He missed both his shots on goal, was offside once, and completed just two of his five passes on the day. The Norwegian registered just seven touches of the ball and lost possession three times.
