Newcastle United transfer target Mason Mount is reportedly set for fresh talks over a new contract with Chelsea.
Mount has been linked with a move to Newcastle in recent weeks, with the midfielder’s future currently up in the air.
It has been claimed that he could leave Stamford Bridge this summer, with his current Chelsea contract set to expire in 2024. That could force the Blues to cash in at the end of the season, rather than lose him for absolutely nothing next year.
The alternative is extending his Chelsea contract, but talks have seemingly not been straightforward. There have been issues over wages and the length of the deal.
It has been reported that a fee of £50million could see Mount leave Chelsea this summer, but it looks like neither party is giving up on extending his stay in West London.

According to 90min, Mount and Chelsea officials are set to hold a fresh round of talks about the England international’s future.
The report adds that Mount is now working alongside agent Neil Fewings, who will act as an advisor to the midfielder during the negotiations. 90min add that Chelsea are determined to keep him.
That is what Graham Potter wants, as he has previously said that Mount is part of his plans for next season. But the decision might be taken out of his hands if a new contract is not agreed.
While negotiations continue, interested suitors like Newcastle will watch on from the background.
Mount would be a dream signing for Eddie Howe, and pundit Darren Bent has claimed that he would be ‘perfect‘ for the Magpies.
We agree with that sentiment, but it is surely going to be incredibly difficult to tempt Mount to Tyneside if Chelsea do decide to sell this summer.
