Newcastle United are trying to sign Goncalo Ramos this summer, and now we know how much money Benfica want for him.
It was claimed earlier this week that the Magpies are preparing an opening bid for the 21-year-old. Sky Sports stated that Newcastle are willing to pay around £25million for the Portuguese forward.
He is reportedly our new top target according to Fabrizio Romano. However, a bid worth £25million looks like it will fall slightly short of Benfica’s valuation.

Benfica’s asking price for Goncalo Ramos
According to 90min, Benfica will sell Ramos for a fee of around £30million. That’s more than what Chris Wood cost in January – he arrived for £25million.
It means Newcastle’s opening bid, if it comes in, will be about £5million short.
The Portuguese side are in a commanding position, with Ramos having four years left to run on his contract. They have also already sold Darwin Nunez to Liverpool for big money this summer, meaning there is less pressure to sell.

However, manager Roger Schmidt’s feelings on Ramos may play a part. 90min add that he is yet to be convinced by the forward. Meanwhile, Portuguese football expert Pedro Sepulveda believes the Benfica boss would be open to him leaving.
Newcastle might need to push the boat out a little further if they are going to meet Benfica’s asking price. And they might have to fend off competition from other Premier League teams too.
Plenty of English clubs interested in Ramos
90min add that as many as seven Premier League clubs are interested in Ramos – including Newcastle. They state that Nottingham Forest have also held talks, which is no surprise given they have been linked with everyone.
The other clubs mentioned in the report are Crystal Palace, Everton, Leeds, West Ham and Wolves. Those five clubs have been asked to be kept in the loop regarding Ramos, according to 90min.

They report that Ramos may have the chance to move to England – and it’s surely the Magpies who are leading the race.
While plenty of clubs are interested from afar, it feels like Newcastle are the only team with genuine intent to sign Ramos right now. Talk of Forest making a move shouldn’t be a concern, given the fact they have also made a move to bring in Emmanuel Dennis from Watford.
It’s up to Dan Ashworth and Eddie Howe to decide how much they want Ramos. An offer of £25million might not suffice, so the Toon hierarchy will need to decide whether they make a bid worth closer to £30million.
Then we’re entering serious money territory.
