Newcastle United are reportedly considering a move to sign Emmanuel Dennis this summer.

That’s according to 90min, who claim that the Watford forward is now on the Magpies’ radar. They state that the 24-year-old is unlikely to stay at Vicarage Road, and could be available for a ‘knockdown’ fee.

Winger Ismaila Sarr is also mentioned as a player who Newcastle are looking at. He’s been linked in the past, and was touted as a cheaper alternative to Moussa Diaby.

Dennis is another player who could represent a cheaper alternative for Newcastle, as they search high and low for attacking reinforcements.

Dennis would be a decent signing as Newcastle consider bid

It was reported earlier in the summer that Newcastle had been offered the chance to sign Dennis from Watford. And now it looks like they are considering it.

That’s no surprise given how much they have struggled to sign a forward and how well the Nigeria international did last season.

He joined Watford from Club Brugge for just £3.4million, and went on to become a star in yellow and black. He did his best to keep Watford up with his goal contributions, scoring 10 times and providing six assists. However, it wasn’t enough and the Hornets went down.

But Dennis earned a lot of praise for his performances. Former Newcastle striker Michael Owen hailed his impact after arriving from Club Brugge, simply saying ‘what a player‘ after he scored a winner against Aston Villa earlier in the year.

Claudio Ranieri was also a fan, calling him a ‘very talented player’ who is ‘fast’ and has ‘good skill’.

Dennis’ efforts in a Watford shirt last season certainly caught the eye, and most fans wouldn’t turn their nose up at him. To get 16 goal contributions is really impressive – even more so in a team that was fairly poor all season.

He’s versatile too, capable of playing through the middle or out wide. That will suit Eddie Howe, as he looks to sign a forward and a winger. Dennis could kill two birds with one stone.

It has been claimed that he could be available for £20million. If so, Newcastle could certainly do a lot worse. At the moment we’re reportedly considering a move, so we wait to see if a formal offer emerges.
