Newcastle United will be sending scouts to a very important game this weekend as they look to monitor several potential summer targets.

The Magpies are looking for some huge upgrades in the upcoming window and have been sending their recruits all across the world to seek out the best talent to help them get back amongst Europe’s elite.

A new report from Sport Lens now claims that Newcastle will have scouts in attendance when Sporting Lisbon take on Benfica this weekend, with Viktor Gyokeres a potential target.

Newcastle set to scout £100m striker this weekend

Gyokeres made the move to Portugal from Coventry last summer and the striker has been on fire all season with several top clubs now expected to battle for his signature.

The Swedish international has netted 30 times in 33 appearances across all competition this season and has recorded 11 assists to go along side that, an absolutely incredible return.

It’s no surprise that so many Premier League clubs are now taking notice with scouts from Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Newcastle all expected to be at the game.

Chelsea were believed to have submitted a £73m bid for the attacker, but it’s understood that it would take £100m to pry him away from the Portuguese giants in the summer, a fee that feels to high for the Magpies to splash out on.

Newcastle could also have a focus on a number of other players in the game with Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande both previously linked to the club in the last 12 months.

Newcastle desperate for another star striker

Alexander Isak has proven to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League if not the world when he’s fit, but that’s been exactly the problem, he hasn’t had a long enough run in the team to show his true worth.

Ideally, Newcastle would have another talented forward to come in to replace the Swede whenever he’s out injured, but Callum Wilson is another who struggles with his fitness.

While one is out injured the other is usually trying to build back up to match sharpness before they switch places and it’s been a very difficult challenge for Eddie Howe to manage this season.

That’s why it’s likely that Wilson will be moved on in the summer an Newcastle will look to bring in a new striker who can play on a more consistent level and support Isak next year.
