Newcastle United are set to be in the market for a forward this summer, and journalist Ben Jacobs has named one player who Toon fans should keep an eye on.
It was recently reported that the Magpies are going to be looking to sign a versatile forward, having struggled in attack at times this season. That has largely been down to injuries, with both Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson having fitness issues.
The latter is currently out of action after undergoing surgery on his pectoral muscle, and is being linked with a move away from St James’ Park this summer. Wilson was linked with leaving in January, and it is now deemed likely that his Toon career comes to an end very soon.
It would be a shame to see him go, but his fitness record continues to be a massive issue for Eddie Howe. The Newcastle manager needs a striker who he can rely on, and Ben Jacobs has hinted that Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy could be a target.
Newcastle fans told to keep an eye on Serhou Guirassy
Journalist Ben Jacobs has been speaking on Caught Offside’s The Debrief on X, and sent a message to Newcastle United fans.
“And if you’re a Newcastle fan, keep an eye on on Serhou Guirassy as well,” he said.
“There’s a very affordable release clause there. And he’s another player who’s had an excellent season at Stuttgart.”

Difficult to see Newcastle signing Guirassy
Guirassy certainly is having an excellent season. He has scored 20 goals in the Bundesliga, a tally that is only bettered by Harry Kane (27).
The 27-year-old forward was linked with a move away from Stuttgart during the January transfer window, but a deal failed to materialise. That is despite him having a very affordable release clause worth £15million.
He was even linked with a transfer to Newcastle, with Eddie Howe’s side seemingly offered the chance to sign him.
But a deal for Guirassy always felt unlikely, and I personally feel like it is unlikely in the summer as well – despite what Ben Jacobs says.
While getting a striker of Guirassy’s calibre for £15million would represent great business, I imagine Newcastle will look at someone a bit younger than him – not that 27 is old!
But the Magpies want versatility too, and that could also go against Guirassy, as he predominantly plays through the middle. In truth, all the speculation surrounding him feels like agent talk.
