Newcastle United’s search for a third striker could lead them towards one of Europe’s most in-form goalscorers right now.
Eddie Howe is looking for attacking reinforcements in January, having seen both of his strikers break down due to injury this season.
Alexander Isak is due to return from a groin injury after missing five games, while Callum Wilson is now out of action with a hamstring problem.
With Isak now back, he is under a lot of pressure to stay fit as Newcastle’s one and only forward.
It is clear that the Magpies need another option in attack, with various players being linked with a move to St James’ Park.
There has been talk of a younger player arriving, with the likes of Hugo Ekitike and Marcos Leonardo linked. Then there have been stranger rumours involving the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Marvin Ducksch.
Now a new name is on Newcastle‘s radar, and it is a player whose Bundesliga tally is only bettered by Harry Kane right now.

Newcastle consider January move for Serhou Guirassy
According to journalist Christian Falk, Newcastle are interested in signing Serhou Guirassy from Stuttgart.
The journalist has spoke to Caught Offside about the Magpies’ interest in the 27-year-old, stating that Newcastle are ‘on the table and might be a more attractive option as a Champions League club’.
Newcastle might not be a Champions League club for much longer, but a switch to Tyneside could still be appealing for a player who has already scored 16 goals in all competitions.
That is a staggering tally, and it is even more impressive when you consider it is more than Wilson (seven) and Isak (seven) combined.
On top of that, Guirassy is very much affordable. He has a release clause in his Stuttgart contract that will allow him to leave in January for just £15million.
That kind of money will make Guirassy appealing to a lot of clubs, one of which appears to be Newcastle.
However, despite Falk’s claim that Eddie Howe’s side are keen, it would be a shock to see the red hot forward move to St James’ Park. Based on his current form, he is far too good to come in and be third choice, while Newcastle will surely want someone who is a bit younger.
