If Newcastle United are going to sign Arda Guler this summer, they might have to fend off interest from Real Madrid.
Guler is a man in demand right now, with Europe’s biggest names queueing up to sign the ‘Turkish Messi’ for a modest fee of £15million.
The 18-year-old’s release clause makes him a very attractive proposition, and that is why Fenerbahce are hoping they can get the teenager to sign a new contract.
Newcastle have been heavily linked with signing Guler during this summer’s transfer window, with the Magpies deciding that they are big fans of the attacking midfielder after months of scouting.
He is the type of player who fits Dan Ashworth’s remit, but it now looks like he is on Real Madrid’s radar as well.

Real Madrid join the race to sign Arda Guler
According to ESPN, Los Blancos have been tracking Guler for a while and are now interested in signing him.
They add that Guler is an attractive option for Real Madrid, who are looking to continue their bid to sign some of the best young players on the planet.
They might be in luck too, as ESPN add that a transfer to the Santiago Bernabeu is considered Guler’s ‘dream move’, as that is where his idol Mesut Ozil spent a large part of his career.

However, Guler, who is tipped to become a ‘superstar‘, is also aware of his playing time. That is why he would perhaps favour a move to a smaller club where he is likely to play more as he continues his development.
Newcastle fall into that category, but whether it’s the Magpies or Madrid, there is another issue in the race to sign Guler. As well as his asking price, the player’s representatives are commanding a significant signing on fee, which complicates matters.
Whoever signs Guler is getting a star of the future, but this is by no means a straightforward transfer.
