Miguel Almiron looks among the prime candidates to leave Newcastle United this month.

While Newcastle have battled to keep Martin Dubravka at the club amid their push for Champions League qualification and Carabao Cup glory, that may not be the case for every single player linked with a move away.

Indeed, Almiron’s future has been uncertain for a while now. The player’s agent has confirmed his client is unhappy with his lack of minutes amid links with a move to Major League Soccer (MLS) side, Charlotte FC.

Newcastle, of course, could do with selling players this month in an effort to raise funds.

Given the fact Jacob Murphy is starting on the right wing (Anthony Gordon and Joelinton have also played out of position there this season), it’s only natural Almiron would be touted for an exit.

Still, all may not be as it seems when it comes to his Newcastle future.

Recent reports had suggested Charlotte FC were in advanced talks with the Paraguay international.

Still, according to The Chronicle, Newcastle are yet to have received any bids for the 30-year-old.

They suggest there is significant interest in the player but nothing concrete has yet emerged.

Clearly, that leaves him in a state of limbo. Not playing at Newcastle and not yet leaving despite big interest cannot be easy.

Interestingly, it states that Almiron’s preference would be to stay in Europe with his family and the 30-year-old is said to be in no rush to depart.

When will Miguel Almiron leave Newcastle United?

Considering the strength and the frequency of the rumours suggesting Almiron will leave, it seems likely it will happen at some point.

Still, it may not be imminent.

Not only are clubs yet to formalise their interest, iNews recently suggested Almiron was much more likely to leave towards the end of the transfer window.

In that event, the most likely solution is said to be a loan exit which would include an obligation to buy, presumably at the end of the season.

It seems the Almiron saga has a while to run yet…
