Miguel Almiron’s agent has addressed his client’s imminent move away from Newcastle United.
There has been speculation all month that Newcastle United would sell Miguel Almiron, and it now appears that a deal is very close to completion.
Almiron has said his goodbyes at Newcastle, as the players and staff wave farewell to a player who has given the club his all during his six-year stint at St James’ Park.
He is one his way back to the United States, with Atlanta United agreeing a fee to re-sign Almiron after selling him in 2019.

Miggy is on his way back, and his agent Daniel Campos has addressed the move during an interview with Tigo Sports.
“It’s a big step because he had some great times there, it’s a very organised club, people idolise him, he got a long-term contract, which is what he was looking for,” he said.
“He’s going to be the one in charge of this team, they’re rebuilding a competitive team.”
Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle United U-turn
According to his agent, the lure of a long-term contract has swayed Almiron’s decision to leave. Interestingly, Geordie Boot Boys were told this week that Almiron was not convinced about leaving Newcastle, but the four-year deal on offer helped him make up his mind.
These comments from the Paraguayan’s agent represent a bit of a U-turn, as it was not too long ago that Campos was talking about Almiron staying at St James’ Park for a very long time.
“He [Almiron] has a valid contract, it was renewed last year for three more,” he said in November.
“Miguel is not desperate for money or crazy things. If there is an offer from a team, we will go through the appropriate channels.
“So it seems that he has another two and a half years left on his contract with Newcastle United and that, unless some other club makes a significant offer, with corresponding wages, he will stay on Tyneside for a while yet.”
Just over two months later and Miguel Almiron’s Newcastle United career is set to come to an end. It is the right time too, as Miggy was no longer a key player under Eddie Howe.
While the Newcastle United manager wanted to keep Almiron to protect his squad depth, this is a PSR opportunity that the Magpies cannot pass up. They are receiving around £10milion for the winger, which will contribute towards Paul Mitchell bringing in reinforcements later in 2025.
However, it is unlikely to result in new signings this month. That is a shame, and it leaves Newcastle United very short in attack for the second half of the season.
