McCoist makes Pulisic and Ziyech prediction amid Newcastle links

Christian Pulisic is one of multiple Chelsea players who Newcastle United have been linked with signing in recent months, and Ally McCoist believes he will be on his way out.

There was plenty of talk about Pulisic joining Newcastle during January, with a big money move tipped for the American. However, that did not happen.

Instead, the winger has remained at Stamford Bridge, with injury forcing him to stay put.

But with the incredible number of players that Graham Potter boasts, it is inevitable that there will be departures this summer.

Ally McCoist thinks Christian Pulisic will probably leave Chelsea

Speaking on TalkSPORT, pundit Ally McCoist has tipped Pulisic to be one of the players who Chelsea decide to get rid of at the end of the season.

“I’ve looked at the squad,” he said.

“They’ve got 32 players which is ridiculous. You could start anywhere.

“Azpilicueta. Kante might surprise a lot of people. He’s 31, you’d need to have a look at his fitness. Zakaria I’m not too sure about. Chukwuemeka is another one I’m not sure about. Pulisic will probably go. Ziyech will certainly go.”

McCoist thinks two Newcastle targets will depart

If Chelsea do decide to get rid of Pulisic then Newcastle will no doubt be in the conversation. It has previously been claimed that the Magpies are ‘obsessed’ with the 24-year-old, who has been a target for the past two transfer windows.

Another player that McCoist mentions is Hakim Ziyech, and he is also someone who has been on Newcastle’s radar.

Eddie Howe’s side were heavily linked with the Moroccan winger in January, who was viewed as an alternative to Anthony Gordon. However, Newcastle’s interest ended when the Gordon deal went through.

Then Ziyech had a deadline day to forget, with a move to PSG collapsing at the final second.

As McCoist says, the £33million attacker will be on the move, but it would be a surprise if Newcastle reignite their interest. That is largely down to his age, as Ziyech recently turned 30.

Pulisic is a much more likely target, but his injury record would be cause for concern for Toon fans. Another issue would be his recent form, with Pulisic providing just three goal contributions in all competitions this season. That is only one more than Jacob Murphy has got.
