‘Massively improved’ £40m player is now likely to leave Newcastle United this summer

The Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules were an issue for Newcastle United in January, and it could also prove to be a problem this summer.

Newcastle United might need to sell a major name to allow them to heavily reinvest, leading to speculation that one of Eddie Howe‘s top players could depart.

The leading candidate is Bruno Guimaraes. There has been so much speculation about him leaving St James’ Park at the end of the season, although he appeared to suggest on Saturday night that it is all background noise and that he is happy on Tyneside.

However, it remains to be seen what the future holds for his fellow Brazilian Joelinton. His contract is due to expire in 2025, and a stalemate in negotiations could force Newcastle to sell this summer.

Joelinton is ‘likely’ to be sold by Newcastle United

And, according to the Daily Mail, that is currently likely.

The Daily Mail have reported that Joelinton is likely to leave Newcastle United this summer due to his current wage demands.

The 27-year-old has been in talks about extending his stay, but they have not proven to be fruitful. Understandably, the £40million man wants a big pay rise, and wants to be recognised as one of the club’s most important players.

He certainly is that on the pitch, and Joelinton is a major miss right now due to injury. His season could be over, which might actually result in him never playing for the club again.

If this contract situation can’t be resolved then selling him makes financial sense. From a business perspective, it would be terrible to let him leave on a free in 2025.

Newcastle either need to make him an acceptable offer this summer or find a buyer. Hopefully it is the latter, as Joelinton is idolised on Tyneside.

The Brazil international is ‘massively improved‘ under Eddie Howe, and it will cost a huge amount of money to replace him.

The Daily Mail suggest that Bournemouth’s Philip Billing could be a replacement, although it is difficult to envision fans getting behind that deal if Joelinton were to leave.

Right now, the Daily Mail believe that a Joelinton exit is on the cards. I have got my fingers crossed for that to change in the next few months.
