Manchester United could look to scupper Newcastle United’s transfer plans this summer.

Newcastle United are on the lookout for new signings at the end of the season as they prepare for a European campaign of some description.

Hopefully, that will be in the Champions League. Eddie Howe’s side are very close to securing qualification for Europe’s elite club competition, effectively needing only three points from their final two Premier League games.

Despite a dreadful season at Old Trafford, Manchester United could join them in the Champions League next season. Ruben Amorim’s side meet Tottenham in the Europa League final on Wednesday night, and the winner will earn a place at the top table next season.

That could prove a problem for Newcastle in the transfer market in regard to Matheus Cunha, Liam Delap and Antoine Semenyo

Manchester United want to sign three Newcastle United transfer targets

Newcastle are interested in Cunha, although it seems the Manchester giants are moving ahead in the race. Semenyo is also a Newcastle target, but Amorim’s side have their eyes on him.

Newcastle are interested in Delap too, but he could also end up at Old Trafford.

According to The Independent, the Red Devils have made “advances” on moves for Delap and Semenyo – albeit the moves could depend on whether or not they win the Europa League.

Delap is understood to have an “existing relationship” with Jason Wilcox, who is the technical director at the club.

They are also said to be confident about sealing a move for Cunha regardless of where they finish this season.

Who will Newcastle United sign this summer?

It’d be a shame to see all three players go and strengthen what could be a positional rival next season, even if Amorim’s side are way behind Newcastle right now. They surely cannot be as bad next season, though perhaps that’s giving them too much credit.

Still, it looks to be an exciting summer at St James’ Park anyway. Newcastle want to sign at least three players this summer, which would be a welcome boost for Howe after a fallow period on the incomings front.

Newcastle want to sign Marc Guehi and James Trafford at the end of the season, having seemingly tracked them for a while now.
