Newcastle United will be paying close attention to Jarell Quansah’s situation at Liverpool.
The Magpies are intent on signing a centre-back this summer, with Marc Guehi named as Newcastle’s top target. Newcastle are also looking at Ousmane Diomande, as they prepare to strengthen their backline.
Quansah is another player on Newcastle’s radar, and it is not guaranteed that the 22-year-old remains at Anfield beyond the 2025 summer transfer window.
How Liverpool feel about selling Jarell Quansah
There could be an opportunity for Newcastle United to sign Quansah, but a deal for the central defender will not be cheap.

According to the Athletic, Liverpool are not planning to sell Quansah, but would let him leave ‘for the right money’. They add that Quansah is valued north of £40million, with Bayer Leverkusen looking closely at the Premier League winner.
It was reported earlier this year that Newcastle value Quansah at £30million, so they would need to up that amount to tempt Liverpool.
Quansah is currently away on international duty, representing England Under-21s at the European Championship alongside Toon defender Tino Livramento.
Newcastle United proposed Quansah deal in 2024
Quansah is absolutely a player that the Magpies admire. That is why they tried to sign him during the 2024 summer transfer window.
An approach came during Newcastle’s PSR disaster, as they scrambled to raise enough cash to comply with the Premier League’s financial rules.
Anthony Gordon was offered to Liverpool, with Newcastle proposing a deal that would see Quansah move the other way. However, the Reds rejected Newcastle’s offer.
Instead, Newcastle almost bought Joe Gomez. That deal ultimately collapsed as well, with the Magpies finding another way to comply with PSR.
They sold Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh, meaning the Magpies did not need to pull the trigger on cashing in on one of their star performers in Gordon.
