Newcastle United are looking to sign a striker in 2025.
The Magpies’ strike force could look very different next year, with Eddie Howe eager to add another goalscorer to his Newcastle United squad.
Alexander Isak is a world class talent, but he needs more support. Sadly, he is not getting that support from Callum Wilson. The 32-year-old is yet to play this season, and is currently in the final year of his Toon contract. Elsewhere, Will Osula remains a project player with raw potential.
That is why Newcastle could look to sign a new striker in 2025.
It remains to be seen who the Magpies will target. Newcastle are interested in Jonathan David, and he is a tantalising option who could be available on a free transfer. Newcastle have spoken to David’s representatives about a possible deal, with the club eager to understand what kind of wages the 24-year-old would demand.
2025 transfer likely for Benjamin Sesko

David is expected to change clubs in 2025, but he will be a man in demand due to his contract situation.
That could force Newcastle to look elsewhere, and another striker they have been linked with could also be on the move at the end of this season.
That is according to the Daily Mail, who report that Benjamin Sesko is expected to leave RB Leipzig in the summer of 2025.
They add that Manchester United are looking at possibly signing the 21-year-old, while it will be interesting to see if Newcastle make a move for a player they wanted to sign this summer.
Newcastle wanted Benjamin Sesko in the past
The Athletic reported in the summer that Newcastle were one of multiple Premier League clubs interested in signing Sesko.
At one point in time, it looked like Sesko was going to join Arsenal, only for the Slovenia international to decide he was staying with Leipzig.
But the ‘incredible’ Benjamin Sesko remains one of Europe’s most exciting strikers, scoring six goals in nine games this season. Three of those have come in the Champions League, while Sesko also has three assists in all competitions.
Given Newcastle’s plan to sign a striker, it would not be a shock if they reignited their interest in Sesko. He was admired over the summer despite being too expensive, while Newcastle did try and sign Sesko before they got Alexander Isak in 2022.
The thought of having both Isak and Sesko in 2025 is tantalising, although it might be beyond Newcastle. The Daily Mail add that Sesko will want to continue playing in the Champions League, and it remains to be seen if the Magpies will be able to return to Europe’s elite competition.
And with Paul Mitchell now in charge of transfers on Tyneside, there may be a desire to target someone who is not quite as reputable for a smaller fee.
