Newcastle United are in a race against time to sell Miguel Almiron to MLS side Charlotte FC.
The 30-year-old is being linked with a move back to the United States, with Charlotte FC interested in signing Miguel Almiron from Newcastle United.
The Magpies are willing to let him go, but only for the right price. Newcastle need to sell to buy to boost their PSR situation, but letting a player go on the cheap will not massively enhance their position.
It has been reported that Newcastle want too much for Almiron, making a return to the MLS unlikely. The clock is ticking, with their summer transfer window set to close today (August 14th).
Both clubs are in a race against time to reach an agreement, and an update on the situation suggests that a compromise is quite far away.

Newcastle United offered less than £10m to sell Miguel Almiron
That is according to journalist Ben Jacobs, who has taken to X to provide details of Charlotte FC’s offer for Almiron and how it compares to Newcastle‘s valuation of the winger.
Jacobs wrote on X on Tuesday evening: “Talks continue between Charlotte FC and Newcastle for Miguel Almiron. There is a gulf in valuation with Charlotte seeing a bid for around $10m rejected, sources tell myself and @tombogert. Newcastle believed to be looking for closer to $20m. MLS window closes tomorrow night.”
According to Jacobs, Charlotte FC offered £7.8million to sign Almiron. That is basically half of what Toon officials are looking for, with Jacobs stating that Newcastle want around £15.6million.
The two clubs are nowhere near in terms of valuation, making it extremely unlikely that there will be a compromise before the MLS transfer window closes.
Newcastle have lowered their Miguel Almiron valuation
If Jacobs’ figures are correct, it means Newcastle are actually willing to make a loss on Almiron. He cost a club record £21million in January 2019, and was a statement signing at the time.
There have been some high moments on Tyneside, while Almiron has always been a tremendously hard worker in a black and white shirt.
However, his impact has started to deplete, which is why Newcastle are currently looking to sign a new right winger. Whether that will be possible if Almiron stays at the club remains to be seen.
But with Newcastle wanting just shy of £16million for the Paraguay international, it represents a decrease in valuation for Almiron.
He was heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia at the start of the year, with Al-Shabab agreeing to pay £25million for Almiron. However, he opted against a move to the Saudi Pro League.
And when interest from Saudi Arabia re-emerged this summer, Newcastle wanted around £20million for Almiron.
His price is getting lower and lower, yet he remains at St James’ Park.
