Newcastle United are waiting discover if Crystal Palace will accept their third offer for Marc Guehi.

The Magpies are desperately trying to sign the 24-year-old, with Palace rejecting Newcastle’s second offer for Guehi last week.

Now a new proposal has been submitted, with Newcastle making a third bid for Guehi over the weekend.

Whether or not it will be accepted remains to be seen, as Toon officials wait for the green light to complete a major deal for a player who is keen to move to St James’ Park.

But a deal will depend on whether Palace receive a suitable offer, which is yet to happen.

Crystal Palace in ‘no rush’ as Newcastle submit third Marc Guehi bid

Hopefully this approach is good enough for Crystal Palace to say ‘yes’, although they would still like to keep Guehi at Selhurst Park.

That is understandable given the England international’s quality, and Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie has provided some information on his YouTube channel regarding how Crystal Palace are currently feeling about Guehi’s future in South London.

“I’m told from the Palace end that they are in no rush to sell,” he said.

“They’ve already lost a couple of good players already this summer. They don’t want to lose him, but are aware that with two years left on his contract now would be the time to get optimum value for the player.

“They obviously feel £65million is a fair market value given that Jarrad Branthwaite was rumoured to be going to Manchester United for about £70million.”

Newcastle have already failed to sign one Crystal Palace player this summer

In terms of outgoings, Crystal Palace have already lost one major star. They sold Michael Olise to Bayern Munich, with the Bundesliga giants activating his release clause.

There is also a fear that Eberechi Eze could leave Selhurst Park, with the attacking midfielder attracting interest from the likes of Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur.

Newcastle have also been linked with Eze, but it was Olise who the Magpies wanted more.

At the start of the summer, Olise was Eddie Howe’s top attacking target. Newcastle even approached Palace about signing Olise, only for the Frenchman to take his talents to Germany. He is now a Bayern Munich player, and will have the chance to compete in the Champions League for the first time in his career.

That transfer pursuit was never likely to end Newcastle’s way. There were too many suitors chasing Olise, most of which could offer the winger more than just an exciting project.

In contrast, Newcastle appear to be in a one horse race for Guehi. Despite fears that Newcastle’s approach would be hijacked, that is yet to happen, as Toon officials wait for a response to their third offer.
