Yoane Wissa is taking his Newcastle United medical ahead of a £55m move from Brentford, and a new update has been shared on whether a new signing will be made.

The Magpies have spent significantly this summer, but they are not done yet as the signing of Yoane Wissa is still yet to be announced.

Newcastle United have been busy over the summer months, with Eddie Howe keen to significantly bolster his squad ahead of the 2025/26 season which includes a return to the Champions League.

Five senior signings have already been confirmed, with Wissa set to be the sixth new player to come through the doors at St James’ Park.

Wissa becomes one of Newcastle’s most expensive players and replaces Callum Wilson, who left the Magpies for free in July. With a few hours left in the window, Craig Hope has provided an update on what the deal means for Newcastle’s transfer business.

Newcastle United not expected to make any more signings after Yoane Wissa deal

Alexander Isak is having his Liverpool medical after a British record transfer fee was agreed with Newcastle late on Sunday.

The Magpies wasted no time finding that second striker, getting straight into talks for Wissa on deadline day. Newcastle will pay half of Wissa’s transfer fee now, and will pay the remainder in 2026.

Wissa’s deal also includes a 25% sell-on clause, so Brentford could be due a big sum of money in the future.

There was hope that Newcastle could make another signing before the deadline, but Hope has now shared that transfer business on Tyneside is now likely over following the Wissa agreement.

Newcastle United still busy with possible outgoings after Yoane Wissa deal

Wissa was desperate to join Newcastle, and he has finally got his wish after some significant pushing.

While incomings appear to be done, there could still be several other players who could leave the club before the 7pm deadline.

It was reported that William Osula has loan interest from Aston Villa. The 22-year-old made his first Premier League start against Leeds United on Saturday, but it was clear that he needs to play regularly to help him develop.

The signings of Wissa and Woltemade mean Osula moves down to third in the pecking order on Tyneside, so his chances of playing regular football for Newcastle have decreased significantly.

Elsewhere, the likes of Harrison Ashby and Trevan Sanusi could still leave before the deadline.
