Transfer deadline day was a busy one for Newcastle United but, ultimately one that reflects the struggles the club have endured throughout the window.

It’s been a slog of a transfer window for Newcastle United, with the club missing out on several top targets ahead of their return to Champions League football.

A star striker in Nick Woltemade was finally recruited for a record £69m, but the protracted chase disrupted Newcastle’s preparations and they have picked up just two points from their first three games in the Premier League.

Anthony Elanga, Jacob Ramsey and Malick Thiaw were other major first-team arrivals, with Newcastle’s summer spending reaching new heights of over £250m under PIF.

The summer will (not fondly) be remembered for the Alexander Isak saga, which also served to throw the club into chaos but was finally resolved on deadline day.

Eddie Howe now knows what his squad for the season looks like, until January at least, and here’s every deal that was completed on deadline day.

Newcastle United signings on transfer deadline day

Newcastle only made one signing on deadline day but it was a crucial one in bringing in Yoane Wissa from Brentford, even if it did cost a premium £55m.

There were no other rumours or hints that another signing could be made.

Newcastle United exits on transfer deadline day

Newcastle made a headline sale of Alexander Isak to Liverpool for £125m on deadline day, with the record transfer finally being announced well past the 7pm deadline at 9:30pm.

Will Osula nearly left in a £30m switch to Eintracht Frankfurt but the only other departures were Travis Hernes and Treven Sanusi heading out on loan.
