Newcastle United’s summer transfer window is bursting into life, with Marc Guehi not the only player that Paul Mitchell is trying to bring to Tyneside.
It had been a slow start to the summer transfer window following the PSR nightmare that brought June to a dramatic end, with Newcastle United making slow progress when it came to incomings.
But there has been some movement in recent days. Newcastle are trying to sign Marc Guehi, with the 24-year-old seemingly now the top centre-back target. Guehi could cost more than £60million, and is open to a move to St James’ Park.
If he does arrive, he could be joined by Will Osula.
Newcastle United trying to sign Will Osula
He is the other player that Newcastle United are trying to sign right now, and it is a deal that is nearing completion.

It was reported last week that Newcastle were in advanced talks to sign Osula from Sheffield United, with the 21-year-old forward seen as one for the future.
Paul Mitchell was driving Newcastle’s interest in Osula, with the young forward seen as someone who can grow and develop under the guidance of Eddie Howe.
Fabrizio Romano shares the latest on Osula to Newcastle
Osula and Howe could be working together very soon, as the latest update from Fabrizio Romano suggests that a transfer is now very close to completion.
Romano wrote on X: “Understand William Osula has arrived in Newcastle for medical tests today! Deal done with Sheffield United for 21-year-old striker to join #NUFC on £10m fee plus £5m add-ons. Here we go, confirmed.”
Newcastle’s Osula deal is not a moment too soon
With Osula set to undergo his medical with Newcastle United, this is a deal that could be announced very soon – providing all goes to plan.
And it is a deal that should be welcomed with open arms. Newcastle are finally getting another striker, at a time when Callum Wilson is out of action with a back problem.
The 32-year-old’s Toon future is very much up in the air, while his fitness continues to be a major issue. That is why it has been vital that Newcastle bring in another striker – be it someone young or an established name.
They are going for the former in Osula, but the hope is that he will develop into a consistent Premier League goalscorer.
He is a signing for the future, but will also provide immediate cover for Alexander Isak. That is absolutely vital right now, with the start of the 2024/25 season less than two weeks away.
