Newcastle United face Brighton And Hove Albion on Saturday night, and the Seagulls look set to make a major signing ahead of kickoff.
It is going to be an incredibly tough game for the Magpies, but it will be even tougher if Brighton have Ansu Fati in their squad.
The Barcelona forward has been linked with a transfer all summer, and there was late talk of a move to Tottenham Hotspur.
However, it is now Brighton who are in pole position to land the ‘extraordinary‘ 20-year-old.
Brighton set to sign Ansu Fati on loan
According to BBC Sport, Fati is set to sign for Brighton on a season-long loan deal. They state that Barcelona need to free up a space in their squad, while Fati is keen to work with Roberto de Zerbi on the south coast.

He is now on his way to the United Kingdom to undergo a medical and complete the deal, having agreed to join the Seagulls for the season.
Fati will join an exciting and young team that has started the season well. Brighton have six points out of a possible nine, while they are also looking forward to competing in the Europa League.
But their immediate concern is Newcastle United on Saturday night, which could give De Zerbi an immediate chance to hand Fati is debut if they can get a deal done in time.
Newcastle had their chance
If that is the case, Newcastle will be able to see firsthand what they could have won themselves. That is because Fati was also linked with a move to St James’ Park earlier this year.
When the 2022/23 season was heading towards its conclusion, it looked likely that Fati was in his final few months as a Barcelona player.

His agent Jorge Mendes was looking to secure his client’s next move, and reportedly held talks with Newcastle, as he offered the winger’s services to the Magpies.
There was even talk of Newcastle signing Fati on loan, but instead it is Brighton who are going to sign the youngster on a temporary deal.
It is a huge deal for the Seagulls, and it is going to be incredibly interesting to see how Fati performs in the Premier League. If he excels, Newcastle might just wish they had taken up Mendes’ offer when it was on the table.
