Newcastle United have been linked with some big names this summer, mostly exciting young talent and one such name was Barcelona’s Ansu Fati.
The Ansu Fati story was a strange one with talks of a move stemming from an interview his father did on the radio criticising Barcelona for his lack of game time.
Unsurprisingly that didn’t go down well inside the club and it looked like Fati would be moved on, but the player demanded that he didn’t want to leave and his dad’s views didn’t reflect his own.
Ansu Fati was offered to Newcastle during a period of uncertainty
Meanwhile, his agent was offering him out to other clubs with Newcastle among them and for a while it looked like there was genuine interest, but nothing materialised.
Now at the end of the transfer window it looks like Tottenham have jumped to the front of the queue for the ‘extraordinary‘ 20-year-old according to Fabrizio Romano.

Fabrizio Romano has said that talks are underway between Barca and Spurs
Romano claims that Spurs are in talks with Barcelona over a move although things are at an early stage saying: “Understand Tottenham are now in contact with Barça to negotiate for Ansu Fati deal on loan until June 2024. #THFC Discussions about conditions of the deal but Barça want 100% of the salary covered. Ansu, also presented to Chelsea as opportunity but no former approach yet.”
Fati made 36 appearances for Barca last season scoring seven goals and providing four assists and has now made three appearances this season too, albeit from the bench.

Newcastle aren’t really shopping in the market for a left-sided forward any more so it’s highly unlikely Tottenham’s interest will spark the Magpies into life for this one.
