Newcastle United could potentially sell Callum Wilson to a Premier League rival this month.

The 31-year-old is one of multiple Newcastle United players that have been linked with a move away in the past week.

Atletico Madrid and AC Milan were both credited with an interest in Callum Wilson, and now it would appear that West Ham United are also keen on doing a deal for the Magpies’ number nine.

That is according to HITC Football insider Graeme Bailey, who has spoke to Geordie Boot Boys about Wilson’s immediate future on Tyneside.

West Ham ‘very keen’ to sign Callum Wilson from Newcastle

“The understanding is that he’s being offered around by his agent,” he said.

“That’s where the Atletico stuff stemmed from. Newcastle are sort of denying it but it appears that he’s being offered for £18million to whoever wants him.

“West Ham are very keen. They’re willing to sell him to whoever – Chelsea, Manchester United. I’m not sure if they’re in the running, but he’d be a nice fit for West Ham.”

Wilson could be on the way out of Newcastle this month

With Wilson being offered around, it looks like a move away from St James’ Park could very much be on the horizon.

A deal worth £18million would see the Magpies make a £2million loss, having bought him from Bournemouth for £20million in 2020. Since then, Wilson has made 102 appearances for the club and scored 46 goals.

Letting him go will be considered a huge risk, as it would leave Alexander Isak as our only senior striker. Eddie Howe does have the option of playing Anthony Gordon through the middle as well, but that is dependent on having alternatives out wide.

But if Wilson is sold, it would at least give Newcastle the opportunity to reinvest before the January transfer window slams shut.
