Newcastle United want to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth.
However, what Newcastle United want and what they will get could be two very different things.
Chelsea and Liverpool want Dean Huijsen too, with the Bournemouth defender attracting a lot of interest after an impeccable first season in the Premier League.
Huijsen looks ideal for Newcastle, who are keen to sign a centre-back just like him. However, there is a growing acceptance that the 20-year-old’s next move will not be to St James’ Park.

Dean Huijsen to Newcastle United becomes unlikely
Newcastle have spoken to Huijsen’s representatives, and now fresh details over how those talks went have emerged.
According to the i Paper, the belief is that the youngster is looking to join someone other than Newcastle United.
The i Paper add that Huijsen has three demands as he decides his next move – sizeable wages, regular minutes and Champions League football.
It seems as if Newcastle believe they are fighting a losing battle with Huijsen, as they prepare to take their business elsewhere.
That is a better option, rather than getting embroiled in a lengthy transfer saga that might not end with him joining Eddie Howe’s side.
Newcastle United missed their chance to sign Huijsen
Newcastle United would be future-proofing their defensive line for the foreseeable future by signing Huijsen for £50milion. He would be a long-term partner for Sven Botman, joining Lewis Hall and Tino Livramento at the back.
Unfortunately, it looks like he will be going elsewhere. That is a shame, but Newcastle will have been well aware that they were always going to face a lot of strong competition for his signature.
In truth, the Magpies’ real change to sign the Spain international was last summer.
Newcastle were linked with Huijsen ahead of the 2024 summer transfer window, but it was Bournemouth who ended up striking a deal.
They took a punt on Huijsen, signing him from Juventus for around £15million. Fast forward 12 months and they are going to at least treble their money.
As for Newcastle, they get set to prioritise a different centre-back. Geordie Boot Boys understand that Marc Guehi is a Newcastle target, having almost joined the Magpies from Crystal Palace last year.
