Newcastle United are very much in the race to sign Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth.
The Magpies are eager to sign a centre-back this summer, after failing to do so during the previous two transfer windows. Marc Guehi and Abdukodir Khusanov nearly joined Newcastle United, but neither arrived at St James’ Park.
It remains to be seen who Newcastle United’s top target will be this summer, but Dean Huijsen is certainly on Paul Mitchell’s radar.
Newcastle United contacted about Dean Huijsen deal
Huijsen was recently pictured holding a Newcastle United shirt, and Toon fans are hopeful that he will be wearing one officially next season.
The 19-year-old is certainly a man in demand after some sensational performances for Bournemouth, and a £50million release clause means that the Cherries are at risk of losing their teenage superstar.

Interested suitors have an opportunity to strike a deal, and Huijsen’s representatives are already hard at work ahead of the summer transfer window.
That is according to TBR Football’s chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, who has told Geordie Boot Boys that Newcastle United officials have been contacted by Huijsen’s representatives about a potential summer transfer.
But Newcastle are not alone. Bailey has stated that Premier League rivals Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa have also been in contact with Huijsen’s representatives.
Two issues for Newcastle United in Dean Huijsen pursuit
The defender’s people appear to be positioning their client to secure a transfer away from Bournemouth at the end of the season.
That could present Newcastle United with an opportunity, as they aim to secure the services of Fabian Schar’s long-term replacement.
However, there are a couple of issues that the Magpies must overcome if they are to bring Huijsen to Tyneside.
It has been reported that Huijsen is open to joining Newcastle, but only if Eddie Howe’s side are in the Champions League next season. That remains uncertain, but the Magpies are certainly in the mix to return to Europe’s elite competition.
The other issue that could hinder Newcastle’s pursuit of the centre-back is PSR – the three most hated letters on Tyneside.
While Newcastle think they can afford Huijsen this summer, there is the complication of his release clause potentially needing to be paid in a single lump sum. While the Magpies’ PSR position has improved, splashing out £50million in one go could hinder their other transfer plans.
