Newcastle United have been trying to sign Marc Guehi for what feels like an age but he remains a Crystal Palace player.
Indeed, Newcastle tried and failed to sign Guehi in 2024 but remain interested in the England international.
Newcastle want to sign a new defender this summer, although have seemingly made next to no progress.
There are other things to consider, too. Alexander Isak wants to leave Newcastle, so there’s an awful lot for the club to deal with.
Newcastle are interested in Guehi, though both Liverpool and Tottenham have also been linked.
The defender still has a year to go on his contract at Selhurst Park, though Palace dropped something of a hint about his future on Thursday.

Marc Guehi pictured in new Crystal Palace kit
As if Thursday wasn’t bleak enough for Newcastle fans after the Isak news, Palace took to social media platform X to reveal their new away kit for the 2025/26 season.
Oliver Glasner’s side will wear a gold strip next season to celebrate their FA Cup victory a few months ago. The Eagles beat Manchester City in the final at Wembley to lift a major trophy for the first time in their history.
Guehi was pictured wearing it, which could suggest the club are hoping to keep him next season.
The defender could feasibly run down his contract and leave on a free transfer in the summer of 2026.
Marc Guehi’s likely next club amid Newcastle United interest
It seems a move to St James’ Park may never be on the cards for Guehi, despite Newcastle’s long-standing interest in the player.
Indeed, Liverpool are seen as Guehi’s most likely next destination should he leave Palace this summer.
That sums everything up for Newcastle. Transfers move at glacial pace before collapsing. James Trafford looks like the next one on that front, with the player strongly linked with a move back to Manchester City.
Whether Palace keep him or not, Guehi no longer looks bound for Newcastle.
