Newcastle United have an elite player in Bruno Guimaraes, and he is someone who is attracting admiring glances from the biggest clubs in the world.
The Magpies struck gold when they brought Bruno Guimaraes to the North East, but the fact that he has a release clause in his contract after signing an extension last year is concerning.
He could potentially leave Newcastle for a fee of more than £100million, with Paris Saint-Germain one of the clubs taking a keen interest in the midfielder. That is no surprise after he ran rings around them on two occasions in this season’s Champions League.
However, a recent report from iNews has stated that Bruno is going nowhere. They believe that he is happy on Tyneside and that the club will reject any bid they receive for him.
And it looks like they will not be receiving any bids from PSG anyway following a new report from ESPN.
PSG put off by Bruno Guimaraes’ wage demands
According to ESPN in Brazil, PSG are ending their interest in signing Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United this month.
They state that the Ligue 1 champions are massive fans of Bruno behind the scenes, and that manager Luis Enrique would approve of a move for the Brazilian.
However, ESPN add that PSG will not be able to sign Bruno because of his wage demands. The report states that his release clause is not a problem, but his potential salary is.
They claim that the 26-year-old earns around £860,000-a-month at St James’ Park, and he will not accept anything less than that amount if he is to leave Newcastle.
That is too much for PSG, who are currently looking to lower their wage bill.

Bruno Guimaraes is staying at Newcastle
It looks like Bruno’s new contract has actually saved Newcastle on this occasion. While the release clause does make us vulnerable, the fact that he has received a massive pay rise has been enough to put PSG off.
That is excellent news, as it would be a disaster to lose Bruno right now. He is our best player, and he continued his rich vein of form with a brilliant performance during the Tyne-Wear derby win over Sunderland.
Former Toon boss Steve Bruce thought he was ‘fantastic’, while Isaac Hayden stated that he ‘ran the show’ in midfield. He was absolutely dominant at the Stadium Of Light, and he will be even more important against Manchester City on Saturday.
That is Newcastle’s next game, as the Magpies prepare to spend the rest of the season with Bruno in the middle. He is going nowhere – for now.
