Just a few days ago, it looked like Newcastle United could be about to lose Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson.
Both players were being linked with moves away from St James’ Park. Kieran Trippier was a target for Bayern Munich, while Callum Wilson was attracting interest from AC Milan and Atletico Madrid.
Now it looks like both deals are off, with Newcastle United standing firm and keeping two of their most experienced players – for now. Of course, there is still just over a week to go before the January transfer window slams shut.
Wilson has been asked about his future and refused to give anything away, and his response to questions regarding Trippier’s future have also been the same.
Callum Wilson refuses to comment on Kieran Trippier speculation
Speaking on the latest episode of the Footballer’s Football Podcast, Wilson was asked if he had spoke to Trippier or heard anything about him possibly leaving Newcastle United in the coming days.
“No,” he said.
“It’s January. The window is open and there is always speculation with players, not just regarding myself but with everyone else in the squad as well.
“I haven’t got much more to say than that.”

Both staying at Newcastle for now
Wilson has refused to speak out of turn regarding Trippier’s future at Newcastle. But from the outside looking in, it would appear that both players are going to remain on Tyneside.
Bayern Munich look like they have shelved their interest in Trippier, after having three bids rejected.
As for Wilson, talk of him leaving the club this month has suddenly gone very quiet. That is a good thing, as it would be a big risk to let him go and leave Alexander Isak as Newcastle’s only striker.
But while Wilson and Trippier are staying put this month, it might be a different story in the summer. Their futures will no doubt be up in the air again come the end of the season, and that would be a much more palatable time to let them go rather than in the middle of a campaign.
